This span between the end of September 2020 and the end of November 2020 marks a very important period for anime lovers.
More specifically, October is when fans are expecting the release of brand-new anime and the return of some old ones.
Below is a list of the most popular (and most anticipated) anime releases of the year.
‘The Day I Became a God’ (‘Kami-Sama ni Natta Hi’)
If you are a fan of Angel Beatz! then you probably want to check this out. It’s from the creator of Angel Beatz! and Charlotte, Jun Maeda, and The Day I Became a God will probably have you grabbing your tissues.
Yoshiyuki Asai directs and PA Works and Aniplex produce this Japanese anime television series. It will premiere on 10 October.
The story revolves around, Hinata, who awakens as a god and has a vision about the end of the world. She chooses a high school student as her companion to spend time with her until the very end.
Knowing Jun Maeda, however, the story is never as simple as it seems.
‘Attack on Titan’ (‘Shingeki no Kyojin’) – Season Four
The story follows Eren Yeager who is one of the last humans left on earth. The last of humanity survives inside enormous walls to protect themselves from giant man-eating humanoid creatures known as Titans.
Attack on Titan Season Four is arguably the most anticipated anime release this year. This is because the series will finally be coming to a close with the mystery of the titans showing itself.
The final season’s release date is October (no day specified). However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a chance that it could still push to a later date.
‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train’
Demon Slayer took the world by storm last year with its initial five episodes releasing in September 2019. Now, it’s almost time for the next arc of the series to take off in the form of a film.
The anime follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is slaughtered and his younger sister Nezuko turns into a demon.
As of July, the manga had over 80-million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
Also, the anime adaption has seen critical acclaim for its amazing animation and fighting sequences. It has won numerous awards and many consider it to be one of the best anime of the past decade.
The film’s initial release date is 16 October.
‘Higurashi: When They Cry’ (‘Higurashi no Naku Koro ni’)
This anime is probably the one that took the world most by surprise. That is because nobody expected or asked for this 2020 reboot.
Initially set to premiere in July, the release will now be in October due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This anime is perfect for old fans of the original 2006 series as well as for new fans who have not yet seen the original.
The only issue that may be a drawback is the animation studio, Passione, as it is not known for the best animation style.
October is anime month
In conclusion, October 2020 is looking pretty good with its anime line up and these releases are not all that fans have to look forward to.
We are also receiving some new anime such as Noblesse, To Your Eternity (by the creator of Silent Voice), Jujutsu Kaisen and Burn the Witch.
We will also see the return of popular anime such as Haikyuu!! To the Top Season 4 (Part 2), and the new Violet Evergarden film. October is the month for fellow Weebs and Otakus.
