Comic Con Africa: What you need to know

How to attend Comic Con Africa’s Online Con

If you registered for the event, simply log in with your details. Forget your sign up deets? No fear, the organisers will send you a reminder ahead of the event, along with a special sneak peek.

If you haven’t registered, there’s still a chance, but you’ll have to wait until the Con opens at 10:00 on Thursday morning. Once signed in, the hub will open and visitors will find themselves in the Pop Culture galaxy.

The Pop Culture galaxy is reminiscent of the various halls you would find at a physical convention. Remember last year, Troy Baker was performing in one hall, and later signed autographs in another? Yes, like that.

The different planets will lead fans to different fandoms. There’s also the Main Stage, which will be hosted on YouTube. It will feature 14 film, series and entertainment celebrities.

Online Con special guests

Confirmed talent includes Tom Hopper from the Umbrella Academy, Jason David Frank a.k.a Tommy from the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, as well as Chandler Riggs who plays Carl in The Walking Dead.

Bret “The Hitman” Hart of WWE Fame, along with voice artists, Animetubers, and esports shoutcasters will be in virtual attendance too. Let’s not neglect artists and illustrators.

The Comics and Art planet plays home to 36 international and local comic artists, illustrators and writers. Battle Sketches, live draws, panels and Q&As will give insight into what it takes to be part of the industry.

In addition, local celebs like Sean Izaakse and Team Kwezi, along with internationals like Will Sliney, Kevin Eastman – a co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be in attendance too.

Tournaments, online games, panels and cosplay

Head over to The Tabletop Gaming planet for tournaments, online games, panels and free-to-play games. The Cosplay Connect planet will feature the Virtual Masters competition.

Stand chance to win amazing prizes by sharing your Cosplays on social media. You could be featured on the site as well. Don’t forget to use the tags #ComicConAfricaOnline, #WeDareYouToCosplay and #BrotherAtYourSide.

Online Con Exhibitors

The Exhibition Hall will be packed with almost 60 epic exhibitors and there’ll be plenty of amazing deals. The beloved interactive Quiz Nights, which became a feature of lockdown, will feature as well.

There will be six quizzes from Pokémon to Comedy Central and DC, as well as sizzling prizes up for grabs. This is but a tiny glimpse of what awaits you at this year’s Comic Con Africa.

You’ll need to attend and experience it for yourself. See you there!
